    The power of the word

    Saturday, September 20, 2008, 09:31 PM [General]

    Words are little things.
    On paper, they look innocent,
    insignificant, innocuous;
    black markings standing
    out against a blank field.

    Yet, words wield a power
that can rival the natural forces.
    It has been said that
    "actions speak louder than words."
    But words can prompt action.

Words have spread hatred and discontent,
sent both innocent and guilty to their deaths,
    incited riots, and caused wars.
Words have driven peasants into revolt,
    and executed kings and queens.

    Words have caused strife
    between friends, between family members,
    estranged spouses, and led
    them to divorce courts.
The harm caused by words can be great.

Yet, words also have the power
to do great things. Words can bring comfort to those who are troubled,
    make peace between warring nations,
    or between warring individuals.

God's spoken word brought the universe,
and all its' wonders, into existence.
The most significant Word of all
was born in a stable, and died
on the Cross for sinful man.

    Words have the power
to do great evil, or good.
    We must choose our words
    wisely, carefully,
to have a positive impact on the world.

life is like the shifting sands

    Changes

It's never easy, this thing called change,
It turns you around, and makes everything strange.
Change is difficult; it's hard to let go
Of the things in your life you used to know.
You wish everything would stay the same
Like a movie scene in timeless freeze-frame.
    But life doesn't always work the way we'd like;
We never know when the unexpected will strike.
As hard as it is (especially for me),
It's important to accept change graciously.
We can learn lessons from life's little surprises,
Assess strengths and faults, and let knowledge guide us.
Change can be a challenge instead of distress,
If we rise to meet it with courageousness,
Because change can be good, even if we don't see
What lies ahead of us, for in life, there are few guarantees.

    ripples

cast a stone into the water
    watch as the ripples extend
    from the center of disturbance

    even a small pebble
    cast upon still waters
    makes its presence felt

    the splash of water drops
    comes raining down
    broadcasting their own messages

    making their way slowly
    the ripples radiate out
    until they touch the shore

    for every deed committed
    small or great
    good or evil
every life is affected in some small way

    so very blessed

    Thursday, June 5, 2008, 12:27 AM [General]

    It's been a few weeks since I last logged onto RenSpace. Offline life keeps me quite busy, what with work, family, church, and classes (although our dance class is on hiatus for a few weeks for the summer), and, well, plus a little "oopsie" I had at work involving a 12 foot ladder (never, never let a short person carry such a large ladder...oO;;;; ).  ^^;;

I just wanted to say that I've been so very blessed throughout my entire life. The Lord has been so good to me, even though I don't deserve it. He has sent so many wonderful people to cross my life's path, and I'm grateful for each person He sends my way. :)

I'd like to thank those of you here who have befriended me here on RenSpace. You have been so kind, and have made me feel welcome. :)

The fields of the Shire are graced with the loveliest flowers---each and every one of you. :)
